Anyone have Better Homes and Gardens – January 2007?

Question by monty: Anyone have Better Homes and Gardens – January 2007?
We are remodeling our kitchen, and we liked a kitchen we saw in a Better Homes and Gardens magazine. My wife tore out the page, page Z4 from January 2007 issue. I got this issue out of the library, but no page Z4 (z as in zebra) (Better by Design – Comfort comes to the kitchen article). It must have been some supplement. Does anyone have this issue with this page? We are desperate for the kitchen specs from this article, which they often print at the end of the magazine. Please let me know if you have it, or have an idea what magazine it is really in…thanks!

Go to their home page and click on customer service in the upper right hand corner. Perhaps they will e-mail or fax that page. Or perhaps they have back issues for sale.

Michelle has brought some kids to the White House to start a garden. That shows how much she knows about gardening. If the ground has never been tilled it will be like rock. So White House gardeners will now have that added to their duties so she can have some photo opportunities with the kids and some carrots.

Where can I get replacement parts for a better homes and gardens tv stand?

Question by Christopher: Where can I get replacement parts for a better homes and gardens tv stand?
A while ago I found this at Walmart: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Homes-and-Gardens-Cherry-Finish-Flat-Panel-TV-Mount-Console/10841873

I have since lost all the screws/bolts and other parts related to mounting a TV, and while I still have the bracket and all the hardware, I’m missing the stuff to connect them together.

Does anyone know where I can get the replacement parts?

Take what you have to Lowes or Home Depot, along with instructions. See if you can print manual if you don’t have it.Sometimes the manual will show actual size and how many screws are needed. Lowes and Home Depot have open stock of screws and they can try assorted sizes until they find the right ones needed.

A tax on home, backyard gardens?

Question by Carlton your doorman: A tax on home, backyard gardens?
I heard a state legislator today on the radio talking about taxing home gardens that grow vegetables and other produce. This state is in serious economic trouble and they are looking at every possible source of revenue. The legislator stated that many home gardeners sell their produce at flea markets and do not pay any sales tax, that the produce grown even if not sold amounts to income and should be taxed. What do you think if the feasibility and practicality of this?

As long as they don’t tax my stash, man!

What is the meaning of “Better Homes and Gardens”?

Question by Joe from WI: What is the meaning of “Better Homes and Gardens”?
When they say better they might not mean “more expensive”. The true meaning is “upgrade”, but they don’t specifically mean a big upgrade.
My friend grows all kinds of herbs when they’re in season, he cooks, makes tea, and uses them for medicine for his elderly auntie.
Better Homes and Gardens forces you to think about what the word better really means.

Answer by Cyntaks Air
it does? i wouldn’t dwell on that too much if i were you.
BETTER means SUPERIOR. as in “hey, buy our magazine and get ideas of how to make your HOME and GARDEN… BETTER.”
did i just blow your mind?

for plants or building?

ok, about building. here is a nice article about free programs. three good ones are listed:

http://www.remodelingmyspace.com/ideablog/2007/11/comparison-of-top-3-free-home-remodeling-software/

if you can get someone to ship you the BHG, then it should work fine. if you have highspeed connection on your computer, then you can buy it/download directly without getting it through the mail. it looks like there are a couple versions available, some newer than others..cost around $ 20 which they are saying is at least 400 less than the disk (seems like it would pay to get highspeed at least for a month, LOL).

here is a page of links about how to use and get remodeling software:

http://www.ehow.com/Search.aspx?s=remodel+software&Options=0

re plant planning. better homes and gardens is mainly a publication based on western USA gardening. like i mean garden planning software often has certain plants in it that you can arrange and or show at different ages and seasons. The list of plants in there will not be every plant in the world. each one has a certain list and some are a lot better than others..sometimes because of the number but and sometimes because of the kind. like the BBC has a program, but they are based in the UK of course so their list will be UK plants.

so if you end up shopping around keep that in mind. If you REALLY wanted to look around, then you will find a whole load of garden software. lots of it is free and some has totally better features than others. like maybe import a picture of your actual house. or import a special plant if their list does not have it. or, like i said, show the garden at different ages or seasons. Probably various other stuff that i did not mention due to i never used them.

http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=garden+planning+software&ei=utf-8&fr=b1ie7

whenever getting free software, be prepared for it not to work tho, like you were fearing. you might have to dump it and then tell your computer to go back to yesterday’s/last week’s settings.

some places offer free trials but a few are really free i think..prolly not the very best ones of course:
